Insert replacement puts a new window inside your existing frame. Full-frame replacement removes the old window down to the rough opening and installs a complete new unit. Insert is faster and costs less; full-frame is the right call when the existing frame is damaged.

Insert (pocket) replacement

• Keeps your existing interior trim and exterior siding
• Faster install, lower cost
• Best for frames that are square, dry, and solid
• Slightly less glass area, because the new frame sits inside the old one

Full-frame replacement

• Removes the old frame, so hidden rot or water damage gets fixed
• Lets us properly flash and seal the opening
• Maximizes glass area
• Costs more and may involve new trim

How we decide

We check every opening during the consultation. Our defaults: full-frame on siding homes with any rot or leak history, block-frame installs on brick homes, and insert (pocket) installs only where the existing wood frame is clean and solid.
